The Diamond Jubilee
St. John’s Academy commemorated
her 75th year on November 26 and 27, 2005 with the
theme “Affirming Loyalty and Continuing the
Legacy”. A Bingo Bonanza preceded the celebration
in the morning of November 26th. It was participated
in by the students, teachers, alumni and outsiders
alike. Everybody was full of excitement and enthusiasm
as the game went on. The minor prizes given out
included a personal computer, gas range, 25”
color tv, twin tub washing machine, personal refrigerator,
microwave oven among others plus the grand prize
of P75,000.00 in cash.
In the afternoon of the same day
was a special motorcade involving chosen representatives
from each class and the faculty. It moved from St.
John’s to the main streets of the neighboring
barangays. At six o’clock in the evening,
a Thanksgiving Mass preceded the Grand Alumni Homecoming
Party. It was followed by a program participated
in by teachers, alumni and guests. Awarding of trophies
to some deserving alumni, teachers and staff came
next. The unveiling of the school founder’s
(Concepcion Marquez Gil) bust highlighted the event.
The fireworks display which lasted for several minutes
was truly spectacular!
The next day, November 27, the usual
Thanksgiving Mass was held at the covered court
in the morning followed by the flag rites and the
traditional breakfast prepared for the alumni, teachers
and guests. The zestful booths and jolly parlor
games completed the celebration.
The dances during the Dance Festival
in the afternoon constituted those that have been
widely received through time-from Broadway, Pop
Rock, up to the Millennium reflecting the endurance
of our school throughout the years.
All performances were warmly
applauded by the audience. Undoubtedly, the jubilee
celebration would be cherished for eternity by each
